Know Your Directors: How to Spot Your Favorite Directors' Movies

We spend a lot of time talking about different directors attached to movies and use those directors as a common barometer for whether a movie is going to be good or bad. However, we've never really explained why we put so much emphasis on the directors, rather than some other factor, while formulating our opinions. So, we thought it was finally time to talk about exactly that.

Today, we are starting a new series called Know Your Directors. Each week, we will discuss a different director, their cinematic style, defining movies, and what their involvement in a movie can tell us about the inevitable quality we have to look forward to.

In this introduction, we will go over the difference between the director, the cinematographer (also known as the director of photography), and the producer, what each does, & what the director specifically contributes to the overall movie.
