Why Did Disney Cancel Duck Tails? It Was Their Best Show!

Ok Disney…we need to talk. We get it. You’re large, in charge, & own basically everything that we have loved since childhood. However, you have this terrible habit of canceling our favorite shows right when they’re hitting their peak. We understand that you are INCREDIBLY cheap & you do this to prevent syndication payouts, but…can you stop already???

Duck Tails is only the latest victim of an overly greedy studio shutting down a well written show with an amazing cast & a full production team dedicated to the fans at the height of its ratings in order to cheap out on paying higher royalties over the long haul. While it is no secret that long running shows (especially Disney shows) already come with a high price tag on production right out of the gate, this mentality that Disney & Nickelodeon started back in the 90’s & perfected today has completely changed the dynamics of the TV landscape. Gone are the days that a ground-breaking cartoon can run for years, continuing to try new things & grow with its audience. Instead, even the best cartoons & kid’s shows are lucky to last 3-4 seasons before getting the ax.
