Disney Live Action Remakes

With the recent surge of interest in live action remakes of animated Disney classics, we thought we would take a minute to discuss this trend & whether or not it even needs to be a thing.

Now, we're not saying that the live action remakes that have already been released, like Cinderella (2015), the Jungle Book (2016) or Beauty & the Beast (2017) are inherently good or bad. The question is simply: do they have a reason to exist? Keep in mind, we are referring to movies specifically remaking the original animated classics, not spin-off stories. So, while some of what we say may also apply to movies like Snow White & the Huntsman (2012), Mirror Mirror (2012), or Maleficent (2014), they are not exactly what we are referring to.
