Dani Chambers Announces Her Awesome New Role!
After a short break from our normal posting schedule, we’re back at it with a big announcement from one of our past guests, Dani Chambers!
Back at the Galactic Swag Expo, we had the chance to sit down with Dani on Sunday, right when Discotek was announcing the cast of their newest anime, Kemono Friends! For those of you who don’t follow Japanese anime or mobile games, Kemono Friends was first introduced in 2015 as a mobile game in Japan, that succeeded it’s way into a sequel game, a manga, & a full fledged anime series from Yaoyorozu in 2017. The show takes place in a large zoo called Japari Park & is home to extant, endangered, & extinct species, as well as cryptids and some legendary creatures. Due to a mysterious substance known as "Sandstar", many of the animals have become transformed into girls, also known as Friends. During Discotek’s announcement of the English dub cast, we had the great fortune to hear that Dani has been cast as Serval, one of the main cast members for the series!
During her conversation with our guest host Erica Muse, Dani’s excitement about her casting was absolutely beaming off of her, & rightly so! While this may sound like a more niche offering from the anime community, the show has a lot to offer American audiences. Aside from the colorful, cute factor, the show spends time during each episode educating it’s audience about each new type of animal that the cast encounters. It has created conversations among it’s audience about conservation and animal protection online that would make Steve Irwin proud…if he could scroll past all the “OMG SO CUUUUUUTE” tweets. That being said, for us, it is just great to see such a young & talented voice actor gaining more attention in the industry. Since voice acting can be such a hard gig to get into, at least for the bigger roles, we love seeing that talent pool expand so that the shows we enjoy can continue to get better & better.
If you are not familiar with Dani Chamber’s previous work, the best place to start is with The Ancient Magus Bride; yet another fantastic anime, but for VERY different reasons. Or, even better, you can go watch our previous interview with Dani from last year’s Waxacon. Either way, in our opinion, Dani is definitely a voice actor worth watching!
