Was The Matrix Actually Brilliant or Secretly Overrated?
The Matrix may be the most heavily analyzed movie in the 21st Century aside from Star Wars. It combines some highly provocative philosophical ideas & cyberpunk imagery to create a film that has been praised for its cinematic relevance to our modern society. It raises questions about our role in life & whether we are truly in control of our own destiny. It makes the audience question whether its right to simply be a cog in the machine or if it’s time to rage against society & everything it stands for in order to create a new & possibly better path to follow. Or…at least that’s what the movie tried to convey. Since the sequels were released, many people have looked back at the start of the series & wondered if we gave it too much credit simply because it was new & different from everything else at the time. With the cracks showing in the second & third movies in the trilogy, does that retroactively create flaws for the original or can it stand on its own with the same creative imagery & insightful philosophy that we saw in it when it first came out? That is the question we will dive into in today’s installment of Does It Still Hold Up!
